US Motives for Invading Afghanistan

To understand US policy one must first
know that the US and European Establishments lie about their attitude towards Muslim
extremism. They describe it as a purely internal affair, a fanatical
distortion of Islam. But at the same time, they have covertly fostered it,
supporting the most backward-looking forces among Muslims who use this extremism
to maintain their own status. Does this claim seem extreme? Read the article, "Why has USAID

IDLO conference completely contradict the accepted view concerning the US
Establishment's attitude toward Muslim extremism in general and Iran in
particular.

They Still Haven't Built a Pipeline Through Afghanistan!'

Despite claims made by newsletters like Truthout and by the film, 'Fahrenheit
9/11', that a) the U.S. invaded Afghanistan to force that country to allow a gas
pipeline to be built crossing its territory and that b) a gas pipeline has been
built or at least is in progress, in fact there is still no oil company which
has expressed interest in such a deal. (So the US went to war to force
Afghanistan, which wanted a pipeline, to build on in accord with US oil
companies, which weren't interested...) Maybe next year, or perhaps by 2010, the US will twist the arm of some oil company CEO
and he'll agree to work with Turkmenistan and Pakistan and Afghanistan on
building a pipeline, and then all
the people who claimed the US invaded Afghanistan to force the Taliban to accept
what they already wanted will say, "Hah! Just as we thought!"

[It is our thesis that the US first aided the Taliban, in the
hope that they could form a stable Muslim extremist state controlling all of
Afghanistan. Because the Taliban failed, and as part of a process of consolidating
relations with Iran, which opposed the Taliban, and because the Taliban were, by
negative example, strengthening Russia's hold in the region, the US invaded
Afghanistan. Earlier, when the US was helping the Taliban, it
appears that US State Department operatives Rick
Inderfurth and Bill Richardson set up anti-Taliban forces
to be slaughtered. Or so US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher charged when debating
representatives of the Clinton administration. It certainly appears
